Accounting Intern
Role overview
We are looking for an Accounting Intern to join ESS (Environmental and Social Sustainability), Africa’s premier advisory services firm focused on sustainable development and management of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks in Africa and emerging economies. The ideal candidate should be based in Senegal, with fluent English and French. This internship offers the opportunity to learn and gain first-hand experience in a real accounting department, inside a dynamic company which operates across all Africa.
The Accounting Intern will help perform research, prepare financial reports, and assist with reconciling accounts and other duties, as needed.
Key responsibilities
The Accounting Intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Assist with financial statement preparation
- Maintain general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned.
Skills, qualifications & experience
The right candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills in order to adequately respond to the requirements of the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Fluent in French and English
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good knowledge of accounting and fiscal software like SAARI, SAP or QuickBooks
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
